Students should join the Rising Scholars Program because it offers a great opportunity to acclimate to life at Harvard, it introduces you to resources that you might not otherwise find, you get unparalleled access to the vast resources, facilities, and properties of Harvard, and you make friendships that last throughout the school-year.

Starting the year as a Rising Scholar gave me more confidence because I was already familiar with life at Harvard on a smaller scale. My summer as a Rising Scholar taught me how to manage my time, live as part of a college community, and how to study and function as a college student.

This summer taught me how to study and take notes at a level I never had to in High School. The math section of the program taught me valuable statistical analysis and coding skills that have been crucial to my success in Stat 100 as a first-year.

The highlights of the program were twofold for me. First was making connections with the other students. We became each other’s family that summer and created memories that will last a lifetime. The second highlight was the fieldtrips. Getting to visit places like the Arboretum, Harvard Forest, and Medical School were amazing experiences that most students will not experience in their four years on campus.
