Concurrent Masters
Students have the opportunity to apply to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for a master’s degree pursued concurrently with the bachelor’s degree. As part of the concurrent degree program, students will be allowed to double-count up to sixteen credits (normally, four courses) for the Bachelor of Arts and either the Master of Arts or the Master of Science.
Harvard College Certificate for Civic Engagement
A Certificate for Civic Engagement recognizes students who have demonstrated sustained participation in public service and civic involvement through academic engagement, rigorous analysis of social issues, and critical assessment of the policies, strategies, and practices designed to address them.

Detur Book Prize
The Detur Book Prize is one of the oldest prizes at Harvard College. It recognizes sophomores who attained very high academic standing in their first three semesters at the College (prior to starting in a concentration) and honors them with a book of their choice.

Experiential Study in Departments
Experiential Study in Departments provides academic credit for students who are required to receive credit in order to engage with a work or internship experience.

Independent Study
Independent Study is designed to provide credit for field research, academic study not available in regular course work, or practice or performance in the arts. What distinguishes a suitable project is the application of analytical skills to the object of Independent Study. Any sophomore, junior, or senior whose previous record is satisfactory may petition to undertake Independent Study for non-letter-graded credit.

Language Citation
Students who plan to continue language study beyond the requirement level may wish to qualify for a citation in that language.

Simultaneous Enrollment
Students are allowed to enroll in courses that meet at the same time or at overlapping times in only two cases: 1) When one of the two courses has been granted a waiver from the Administrative Board or 2) When a senior can meet degree requirements only by taking the two particular courses in question and will have no other opportunity to enroll in the courses before graduation.
