Student engagement is an essential element of successful course design, whether online or in the classroom. As faculty review and redesign courses for fall, they should be considering including more frequent assignments and additional opportunities for students to collaborate with each other and to receive feedback.
To support this important work, the OUE will use its Course Innovation Funds for departments to hire Harvard graduate student research assistants to redesign assignments and to help develop courses to be taught in Fall 2020. Funds are for work by graduate students during June and July at a rate of $30/hour. Since funds are limited, research assistants will be given first to courses that departments identify as high priority courses. We encourage you to attend a summer faculty training session before you begin working with your research assistant. Following the training sessions, additional self-paced resources will be available to both faculty and RAs. The summer 2020 training sessions schedule and sign up information can be found here.
To apply, please tell us more about your course and the project your research assistant will be undertaking by completing the form below. The OUE will review requests as they are submitted and will contact you within the coming days.
